Alphabet Soup – Unpacking the Rainbow [of] Language and Terminology
LGBTQIA2+…?? Ever wondered what all those letters (and numbers) mean? Do you worry about “offending” people by using the “wrong” words? Or are you just interested in expanding your vocabulary to be more inclusive and affirming? The good news is it’s a lot simpler than you might think. In this session we’ll cover the basics, clear up some common confusion, answer your burning questions, dive into some deep etymology, and send you back into the world less confused and more confident than you imagined possible!
SEX-NAV – Navigating Gender, Sex, and Sexual Orientation
In this interactive workshop, participants will explore the complex landscape of sex, gender, and sexual orientation through a unique metaphor—the map. Using this visual and conceptual framework, we will first examine gender identity and how it functions like a GPS system, helping us orient ourselves in the world. Building on this, we will differentiate between sexual orientation and gender identity, clarifying how they intersect but remain distinct concepts. This workshop is designed to provide a clearer understanding of these topics, equipping participants with the knowledge and language to navigate conversations about identity with greater confidence.
Trans[gender] 101
How many genders are there, really? Is it actually possible to change your sex? What’s the difference between sex and gender? How does one actually “transition?” We will address these questions and more and start to demystify the Transgender Experience. We’ll talk about the science of sex and gender, drawing on plenty of reliable and authoritative sources. We’ll also explore the lived realities of some Trans people in the UK. This is your chance to ask real live Trans people the questions you’ve been dying ask but know deep down are usually not polite. After this workshop you’ll know exactly what to do and say the next time you encounter a Trans person, or find yourself discussing Transgender issues.
Medical Advocacy for the Transgender Community
Whether you yourself are Trans, you have Trans friends or loved ones in your life, you already work in a Medical role, or you just want to be a better Ally, this session is aimed at exploring the experiences of Transgender people when accessing healthcare. This includes both Transition related care (such as hormones and surgery) and regular health care that may or may not be affected by Transition. You will learn how to help Trans people navigate both NHS and private systems, and to advocate for better health experiences in general.
Working with Trans and Nonbinary Patients in Healthcare Settings
For medical and healthcare professionals. Includes roleplaying elements.
Designed in partnership with Emma Gersch.
Trans Parents See
With clarity and compassion, we explore the question: How do Trans people start families and have children? The main focus will be biological conception – how trans people get pregnant or impregnate a partner, including experiences of those who have children before transitioning. We’ll dive into the difficult topics of fertility preservation, IVF, sperm donors, and surrogate wombs, before addressing the unique challenges trans people face when navigating fostering and adoption (including systemic prejudice and discrimination). A workshop for Trans people themselves, friends and families, healthcare and counseling professionals, as well as the curious general public.

World Beliefs 101
This engaging and accessible workshop offers a concise overview of the world’s major (and some minor) religions and philosophies. Participants will explore the key beliefs, practices, and values that shape these traditions, with a focus on understanding the core principles of each faith. The workshop balances learning with experience, giving participants the opportunity to engage with representatives from select religious groups or take part in brief practices, such as prayers or ceremonies. We will also explore practical ways to foster awareness and inclusion of religious beliefs in everyday life, such as accommodating faith-based diets or recognizing non-mainstream holidays. The workshop concludes by exploring innovative ideas for interfaith events or rituals that combine elements from multiple belief systems, fostering a deeper sense of mutual respect and understanding across diverse traditions.
Introduction to Interfaith Practice
This workshop focuses on the practical and creative process of designing interfaith events and rituals that bring together elements from multiple belief systems. Participants will explore the significance of interfaith engagement and how it can foster deeper mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration across diverse traditions. Through interactive discussions, case studies, and guided brainstorming, we will examine ways to incorporate meaningful practices from various religions and philosophies into shared ceremonies, events, and rituals.
Whether it’s for community gatherings, celebrations, or moments of reflection, participants will leave with practical tools and inspiration for creating inclusive and respectful interfaith spaces. The workshop also addresses common challenges, such as avoiding cultural appropriation and ensuring all voices are represented in the planning process.
